The PIC18F97J60 series of microcontrollers from Microchip are a single chip solution containing all of the components of a traditional microcontroller along with the PHY/MAC interfaces built in. They operate at 42MHz delivering 10 MIPS. They range from $5.33 to $7.59 (both in values from 1-10, much cheaper in volume quantities).
The PIC18F97J60 has 16 channels of 10-bit analog and 70 IO channels. Is also has interfaces for I2C, SPI, and UART.
