[edit] IAR Workbench IDE

The IAR Workbench IDE is developed by the company IAR for many different platforms. The TI MSP430 kits come with a free version that allows anything less than 8Kb of C code, which consiquently is smaller than the size of the memory on the MSP430 series chips (most of them anyways). It's laid out very well, and allows for manual changing of registers while debugging.
